Hello, and thanks for visiting my website. I grew up in Baldwin County Alabama in the small town of Foley. Just South of Foley lies Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. The coastal waters of Northern Gulf were my training ground for my career as a guide. The area abounds with incredible inshore and offshore fishing. The bays, rivers, and bayous are home to speckled trout, redfish, flounder, mackerel, cobia, tripletail, and more. Offshore, the red snapper fishing is 2nd to none. I was fortunate to learn much about saltwater fishing from the best local fisherman ever, Harley Rogers. I must mention him because he is a LEGEND. He was often found at the Gulf Shores Fishing Pier, and if you saw him setting up to fish you'd better pay attention. He had an ability to understand fish and conditions like nobody else. If you saw him pack up and go home, you might do the same. He had been fishing local waters (a Baldwin County native and great depression survivor, Korean War Vet) his entire life, long before the area took off as a retirement and vacation destination, when there were only farms and small town centers. He boasts several speckled trout catches up to 13+ pounds. I am blessed to have spent so much time alongside him learning. Sadly, he passed away May 9th 2019 and will be greatly missed.
I created Head First Fishing in 2012 as the boom in personal first person action sports cameras happened. I wanted to record incredible fishing trips and give people a "HEAD FIRST" view of the experience. I purchased a skate helmet and mounted the camera to it, then set off to record my favorite activity in the world. From that point I have not stopped recording and posting online. One of my first few videos caught an audience and climbed 300,000+ views. Today I have hundreds of videos online and a wonderful little following that i love sharing fishing tips and adventures with. I hope you found your way here through YouTube! Either way i'm glad you're here though.
In 2014 I rolled the dice and moved to the Tampa Bay area, landing on Gandy Blvd and 4th Street. I was looking for a new area to explore and new friends to make. Tampa Bay fishing was a big mystery that I had to solve. There were a few familiar features that I was used to from home, but there were mostly unknowns. I had to learn and adapt. Fortunately my training from Harley served me well. My networking ability did the rest. After a few years I was confident enough to take out paying customers and put them on fish consistently.
Looking back, it was an amazing evolution. i still enjoy learning to this day. This area has so much to offer. From Trophy Snook Fishing, Cobia on the Flats, Tarpon at Bean Point, big schools of Redfish, to Grouper in the Shipping Channel, and Mangrove Snapper and Hogfish on the limestone reefs... its a non stop party! I hope you get in touch soon so we can get on the fish! I'll do anything I can to make sure you have a great day. I guarantee you a great fishing trip.
